Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio Pays Tribute to Major General Leone Ahmet: A Mentor and Role Model Remembered

Following the death of Major General Leone Ahmet on Saturday 4th, November 2023 in Source-Yubu, Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala on behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio has conveyed a message of condolence to the family and the community for the loss of Major Geral stressing that his passing has left a void not only in the hearts of his family and community but also in the entire Catholic Diocese.
“On behalf of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura–Yambio, I send my heartfelt condolences to the family and the community from which Major General came. I know him as our mentor and the background of our community. He touched our lives in many ways”.
On his 5th November, the prelate stated that Major General’s legacy is profound and far-reaching. From a young age, he dedicated his life to the liberation movement of his people, showing remarkable leadership and dedication. His influence extended beyond the battlefield, he became a mentor, guiding countless lives in the community.
He added that he had the privilege of working closely with the Major General at St. Joseph Minor Seminary in the Central Africa Republic, where his passion for education and environmental conservation.
“When I was sent by my Bishop to work at St. Joseph’s Minor Seminary in the Central Africa Republic, he joined me and helped me to teach in the Minor Seminary at the same time being the headmaster of the school. We were able to train and mentor many young people not only for priestly formation but also for the society and the communities; he actually loved the environment that he introduced the course on Wildlife, how to protect the wild animals, environments, plants, and how to be friendly to those things, etc. and I am sure that the young people he taught, will continue to respect and honor the nature”.
He further said that Major General was more than just a leader, he was a role model. His unwavering commitment to environmental protection, coupled with his qualities of steadfastness, discipline, respect, and honesty, set an example for all to follow saying that his absence will be deeply felt, but his teaching and values will continue to guide the community.
“He is a role model for us, for the environment, and a leader whose legacy will remain with us forever, especially his protection of the environment and his steadiness, firmness, discipline, respect, and honesty. We have lost him and will continue missing him as a leader who guides”.
The local ordinary of CDTY called upon all people of God to join together in prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
“My beloved people of God, keep in prayers for his reposed soul, for peace in our communities, transformation and ALWAYS be instruments of RECONCILIATION at our levels in the nation”.
