At the celebration of St. Peter and St. Paul on 29th June 2024, Fr. Thomas the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY), reminded the Christians of the significance of St. Peter and St. Paul in the foundation of the Holy Catholic Church and asked them be united, pray and work.

“My dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, dear listeners of Anisa Radio, today is the great solemnity of St Peter and Paul we are praying today for the Holy Catholic Church, the Catholic faith founded on the great pillars of the church, St. Peter and Paul, today we are praying for the Holy Father Pope Francis the successor of St Peter, as we pray, I invite you to be united, pray and work for peace and use our hands to earn a living”.

Fr. Thomas in his homily emphasized the importance of unity and collective prayer and invited all faithful to join in prayer for various intentions; for Pope Francis, for the diocese, for St. Peter and Paul Parish in Naandi, and all the individuals named after these great saints.

He also highlighted a special milestone for the diocese, Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala’s 16th anniversary. He called upon the community to pray for bishop Kussala, asking the Lord to strengthen him in his role as shepherd of the diocese. He added that the day was not only honors the legacy of St. Peter and St. Paul but also a moment to celebrate the dedication and service of the local leaders who work tirelessly for the spiritual growth and unity of the community.

“We are praying for our diocese, our Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala was consecrated on this day 16 years ago”.

He continued, “we pray for all the faithful today in this diocese, in the whole world that the Lord may strengthen our commitment in him that we may walk the talk, we may leave the gospel values, it will be very strange that the same faithful who listen to the word of God who preach the word of God become murderess  that the Lord may help us to work for peace from within our hearts and among ourselves and thereafter leave it according to mind and heart of Christ, my dear listeners let us pray on this great day for our diocese that you may be united to work to evangelize according to the mind and heart of Christ not for our own person again but for the glory of God”.
