The Vicar General Urges Police Officers to Guarantee Civilians’ Safety

The Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio (CDTY) has called on the graduated first batch of police officers, who completed their six-month refresher training course to uphold police professional standards by preventing crimes, protecting human lives, and protecting public property.
On Tuesday, September 17th, the South Sudan National Police Service graduated over 700 police officers after completing a six-month refresher training program at the police headquarters in Yambio.
Rev. Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia the Vicar General addressing the audience stressed that police officers are the friends of the citizens, who are obliged to protect the public in accordance with Police Act section seven.
“The key role of the police service is the prevention of crimes and protecting lives and the property of the citizens, this is in line with Police Act Section Seven”, Fr. Bagbiowia said
The Vicar General promised the police officers support by offering prayers to give them more wisdom to safeguard the public in the course of their duties.
The police commissioner in Western Equatoria added that the refresher training is a crucial step in enhancing law enforcement capabilities in Western Equatoria state.
The newly graduated non-commissioned officers (NCOs) represented over 700 personnel from the ten counties of Western Equatoria, aimed at reinforcing police ethics and legal knowledge.
