Over 700 Police NCOs Graduated After Six-Month Refresher Training in Yambio

The South Sudan National Police Service celebrated a significant milestone on Tuesday, September 17th, 204. Close to 700 police officers graduated from a six-month refresher training program at the police headquarters in Yambio. The event marked a crucial step in enhancing law enforcement capabilities in Western Equatoria state.

The newly graduated non-commissioned officers (NCOs) represented over 700 personnel from the ten counties of Western Equatoria, all of whom participated in the training aimed at reinforcing police ethics and legal knowledge.

During the graduation ceremony, the Commissioner of Police in Yambio emphasized that the program important in equipping officers with essential skills to uphold the law and maintain ethical standards in their duties.

 “This refresher training is vital for ensuring that our officers are well-prepared to combat crime and protect the public effectively.”

The commissioner highlighted a commitment to further enhance the police force's capabilities in maintaining public safety. He urged the graduates to prioritize community cooperation in their efforts to ensure security throughout the state.

UNMISS police representatives at the event reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local law enforcement through ongoing training workshops, aiming to enrich officers' understanding of police laws and procedures.

Governor Alfred Futuyo Karaba, present at the ceremony, stressed the importance of deploying officers in various locations rather than their places of origin. He advocated for a more integrated approach to policing that fosters community relations and enhances overall safety.
