Parents are urged to Cater for Education Needs of their Children, as Catholic Church celebrate St. Daniel Comboni
As Catholic Church celebrates the feast of St. Daniel Comboni, the Vicar general of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura -Yambio has tasked parents to be good shepherd by listening to the issues of their children and provide for their education needs.
The Catholic education schools day was dedicated to promote and encourage quality service under the schools run by Catholic Churches, brought in hundreds of children learning at Nurseries, primaries and secondary schools managed by the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio.
This call was made by the Vicar General of the Diocese in his homily at the celebration of the Catholic education school day on Monday at St Mary Parish mother of God in Yambio.
In his Homily, Rev. Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia says “the day was marked under the liturgy theme “the mission of the Church, picked from the book of prophet Isaiah that emphasizes on the opening of eyes of the blinds, to teach the ignorant and to liberate the prisoners. This is the prophetic mission Luke chapter 4:8, St Mathew 28: 18-19”.
“Today my dear brothers and sisters we are called to go and teach others, to open the eyes of those who do not know, to lead people to God. And this mission of the Church is realized today as we celebrate Catholic education schools day under the theme of “Quality and Holistic Education for Enlightening the Mind”, it the mission of the Church to promote the kind of education which is transformative”. Rev Fr. Thomas lamented.
Fr. Bagbiowia called on children learning under Catholic schools to exhibit the spirit of respect to wards their parents and teachers to enable the nation produce God’s fearing people.
He urged believers to celebrate and pray in remembrance of St. Daniel Comboni who was the first Bishop of Eastern Africa-born in1831 in Italy and died 1881 in Sudan.
Senior Government officials including the governor of Western Equatoria State Alfred Futuyo Karaba were present at the celebration.
