From a WhatsApp group to an organization
On Saturday, August 5, Azande Aniyaki, a WhatsApp group of Zande people from South Sudan in the diaspora has turned into an organization launched an organization to support, unify, and connect Zande people in diaspora.
On Saturday, 5th August 2020, Azande Aninyaki, a WhatsApp group made up of 200 members, turned into an organization. Azande Aninyaki was started in 2019 and is made up of Azande people from South Sudan who are in the diaspora, the main agenda of turning the WhatsApp group into an organization was to support, unify and connect the Azande people in diaspora.
Speaking to Anisa radio during the opening ceremony, the director of the group Simon Mikanipare expressed that the need for peace and eradication of poverty in South Sudan and especially among the Zande people triggered the formation of the WhatsApp group which has finally borne fruits through contributions by its members.
Mikanipare further indicated that the organization will strive to preserve the Zande Culture, as it offers training to the disabled, support sports activities, among others.
The word ‘Aniyaki’ is Zande expression meaning, ‘let us be one’ whereas ‘Kodati’ which is the name of the launched organization means togetherness.
