“Be Master Minded for Development” says Bishop Eduardo to Azande students in Uganda
Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio Met with Some Azande Students studying in Uganda as the Diocese was Celebrating Catholic Education Day in Yambio on October 10th 2022. In his speech he encouraged the Young men and ladies in attendance to be “Master Minded for Development” saying having master mind helps one to plan well for himself / herself. "You should be Creative, have ideology of development and above all Love God in all you does", he stated.
The Meeting had 17 participants with the main purpose of the Meeting was for Bishop Kussala, to interact, listen and discuss challenges affecting young people and giving them room on how young people can be solution providers by themselves .
In the meeting which was also attended by the President of Azande Students Union, Madam Julie James Samson Mizani, the participants raised a number of challenges facing them which include; Disunity, Fear, Shyness, Pride and Gossip.
His Lordship encouraged the participant to find solution over the raised issues and some of the solutions they suggested were to prosper as a team despite of their different fields of study, invest in agriculture by encouraging commercial agriculture instead of home consumption only and networking with those already in the field of employment.
They also requested the Bishop to use his powers as the Shepherd to talk faithful about Azande experts in different study fields instead of hiring foreign workers who are been paid in dollars, giving them free food and accommodation as this demoralizes us as students.
Most of the students agreed that they will be ambassadors of Unity, Hard work and togetherness.
The prelate in his conclusion remarks said every student should have up to 100 Goals that he/ she reads every day. "The goals may include health issues, education, family and so many" he stated.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, also encouraged the 17 participants to make good use of the Google (Internet) to learn more things than only using it for chatting. He emphasized about been in WhatsApp forums that discuss important agendas and mind opening affairs.
Lastly, the local ordinary of the CDTY advised the students to be ones protector, “you should be able to say my sister, brother do not do this and instead do this", he concluded.
