“Pray for Pope Francis for Journey Mercies to our Nation”, says Bishop Eduardo
With only three days to the Pope’s Ecumenical visit to the youngest country, South Sudan, Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura – Yambio (CDTY) has called upon all the faithful to pray for the Historic Ecumenical visit.
“Next weekend, from February 3-5, Pope Francis will be making a historic pastoral visit to the Republic of South Sudan. I would like to encourage all of us to make a special effort to support Pope Francis in prayer during this critical time, both in the Prayers of the Faithful during Mass as well as in our own private prayer”.
The prelate further encouraged the faithful “that Pope Francis’ visit will bring people hope, tolerance, forgiving spirit, the ecumenical flavor of unity, reconciliation, healing, a renewed love for our nation, empowered faith in God and provide an opening for sustainable peace after so many years of conflict and division”.
With pilgrims traveling from different dioceses to receive the Pope, bishop Kussala asked for prayers for over 200 pilgrims from CDTY traveling to Juba to pray with Pope.
“We also pray for our diocesan over 200 pilgrims traveling to receive and pray with Pope Francis in Juba this week”.
The local ordinary of CDTY appealed that “the institutions to observe a week of less intensity of work (Meaning holidays) within our Institution and administration. The resumption of our normal duties will commence on February 7th February 2023”.
He also directed that the Diocese to engage in Tridium prayers for Holy Father from January 31st – February 5th.
