The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio on Easter Monday 10th April 2023 and the county commissioner of Ezo joined communities in Ezo to ride bicycles for peace, keeping the environment safe and farming to produce enough food.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio on Easter Monday 10th April 2023 and the county commissioner of Ezo joined communities in Ezo to ride bicycles for peace, keeping the environment safe and farming to produce enough food.

Speaking during the opening of the event Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala said peace and love have to be among citizens in order to build a better South Sudan at the grassroots through activities that unite people together.

He explains that Easter Monday is a day of good news that Jesus has resurrected and for us to rise with him to give peace and love.

 “The Lord has risen all of us are risen with him to work for peace. I was told the theme for this year’s Easter Monday in Ezo county is peace and good work, and producing food and children to go to school”.  

He added that the people of Ezo County are blessed because it is a center that borders three neighboring countries which can enable them to exchange goods for services through mutual understanding which can be done with the presence of peace among people.

He further added that riding bicycles is good excise for human health and also helps to prevent falls and fractures adding that riding a bike is an ideal form of exercise if you have one.

 On his part, the county Commissioner for Ezo County Hon. Abel Sudan welcomed the initiative of bicycle riding in the county which has a huge impact on peace and harmony for the citizen in his county.

 He called upon the community to educate their children and embark on agriculture. “I want to take this time to tell my entire community that in South Sudan if we want to become a peacemaker and peace lovers, let us send our children to school, such kind of activities cannot be maintained if we don’t know how to embrace people and also, we as Western Equatoria people let us embrace agricultural activities to help us have enough money, enough food to be healthy”.

On Easter Monday hundreds of people gathered to witness bicycle riding activity including athletics, and other sports   involving women and children organized forces

Easter Monday activities are the initiative of Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala who initiated it in 2014 with an aim of building peace among youth in Western Equatoria State.
