In a move aimed at achieving sustainable access to clean water, UNICEF has upgraded the water system in Rimenze Parish from a Borehole system to a solar water system.

The Solar water system is set to benefit both the local community in Rimenze and School children, who according to reports have long been in dire situations in accessing clean water for drinking.

At the time of his latest visit to the Parish on Friday afternoon, Fr. Charles Mbikoyo, the Parish Priest of Rimenze highlighted the significant development taking place within the Parish acknowledging the installation of the Solar Water System and the construction of a four-roomed block for teachers.

Addressing the press on Friday, Fr. Mbikoyo confirmed to Anisa Radio that the community and school children are no longer facing difficulties in accessing clean water like in previous days, citing that there is enough water for everyone at any time.

He acknowledged that the initiative will benefit the learners in various ways and this will have a positive impact on the learners both in class and outside the classroom especially in their academic performance.

Speaking to Anisa Radio on Friday, Gbiaidie Emmanuel, one of the pupils expressed his excitement following the water installation noting that it has greatly improved on time management for learners.

On the other hand, Madam Madeline Luis revealed that the Nursery kids now have the freedom to access clean water and breakfast in time.

For the well-being of the Teachers, Fr. Charles Mbikoyo confirmed that, under the same initiative, a four-roomed concrete block has been constructed for the teachers to have a standard housing facility, which will allow them to stay within the school premises.

Fr. Charles further expressed his gratitude for the water rehabilitation, appreciating UNICEF and the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio, for the initiative.

He finally urged Christians of Rimenze Parish to look after the water source and render proper management for sustainable clean water accessibility.

Rimenze parish is about 15km East of Yambio town, under the Catholic Diocese of Tombura Yambio, and is serving as one of the Catholic parishes funded by the missionaries between 1950 and 1960.
