The Vatican ambassador to Kenya and South Sudan H.G Archbishop Bert Van Megen Hubertus Matheus Maria, and the charge D’affair of the Vatican monsignor Ionut Paul Strejac based in Juba, arrived in Yambio on the morning of Saturday 29th April 2023 on a two-day visit.

While in his two-day visit to the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio, H.G Archbishop Bert Van Megen Hubertus Matheus Maria will ordain three candidates to the priesthood on Sunday 30th April 2023 at St Mary Mother of God.

Speaking shortly at Yambio airstrip H.G Archbishop Bert Van Megen said that his visit also aimed to strengthen faith and to build the Kingdom of God which is built on the foundation of peace and justice.

Bert Van Megen urged Christians to strengthen their faith in Christ because it is only through Him they will find joy.

“We need to strengthen our faith in Christ that is the most important thing because it’s in Christ that we find our happiness, our joy, and our final destination”. Bert Van Megen said

“As we have heard this morning, join us in prayers for peace, which is to do with our hearts and how your heart can be at peace when you build your heart on Christ himself.  I will be with you here in these two days so that we pray together, we sing together, we dance together”.  He added

On the other hand, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio, His Lordship Barani Edwardo Hiiboro Kusala, described the visit of the Pope’s representative as a satirical visit after the visit of the Holy Father in early February this year.

“We see you here as a figure of Christ among us, your words, your prayers, and your presence will consolidate the work that has been going on here to build peace in this State”.  Hiiboro stated.

The State security advisor, Hon. Simon Bakama Momde, welcomed the Pope’s representative and assured of relative security in the State. He said the State government is committed to bringing lasting peace.

The Apostolic Nuncio and his accompanying delegation were warmly received by a huge crowd of parishioners who rallied at Yambio airstrip to give a welcoming ceremony for the Pope’s representative in the two African Counties.
