Bishop Eduardo’s Message to South Sudanese on the 12th Anniversary of their Independence Day
“Beloved,
Congratulations on our day of Freedom. You contributed fully to it with your dear sweat and blood and here we have it.
You will always be remembered as one of the pillars of this freedom.
Let's all celebrate the great Freedom!
Let us take pride in celebrating our Independence Day as we are a country of brave women and men, God-fearing humanity, who gave their lives for the freedom of our nation and brought glory to us with their sacrifices.
Freedom is the most precious thing in every human's life.
Galatians 5:1, Paul says “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
God wants us to be free from the bondage of sin and to live in freedom and independence.
May God bless and lead you always.
God bless South Sudan”

The children’s ministry in the Catholic Diocese of Tambura - Yambio (CDTY) for the first of its kind held a most colorful national march in the morning of Monday 10th to commemorate South Sudan’s 12th anniversary.
The most spirited group of South Sudanese children included Christ Youth for Peace, Shalom boys, and girls, Queen of Purity, Nobel boys, and Pax Christ brass band St Bakhita scout troops among others.
The group gathered at the playground of Villa United football club in Masia and started a 4-kilo miter marching, accompanied by music bands showing their gratitude for the Country’s Independence Day.
Despite no official commemoration of this year’s Independence Day, during the Monday march, along the roadside, hundreds of people came out to join the children while singing paving flags and leaves to celebrate with the kids.
The Bishop of the CDTY, bishop Edwardo, while blessing the children at St. Mary Mother of God Parish at the end of the marching, acknowledged the marching by groups which he said signified their ability to become future leaders of South Sudan.
Barani Hiiboro said, “What you have done today is showing your love that you belong to this nation. So, I want to congratulate you one by one and pray that your hearts get what your hearts are calling you for”.
Talking about the importance of the South Sudan flag, Bishop Hiiboro urged, “When you see this flag it represents you as the republic of South, if you see the flag down you pick it and dust it off because it represents the people of South Sudan”.
South Sudanese on Sunday 9th July, commemorated the 12th year of their independence after seceding from Sudan in 2011.
