Missionary Community of St. Paul Pays a Visit to the Diocesan Secretariat (Curia)

The missionary Community of St. Paul the Apostle paid a visit to the Secretariat of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio secretariat in Yambio to Celebrate Esther Monday together with the diocesan Curia members as well as His Lordship Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala.

The Missionary Community of St. Paul the Apostle, which comprises both men and women Religious was founded in the Catholic Diocese of Lodwar in Kenya. They officially came to Tambura-Yambio in 2009 and have been serving the border Parishes of Ave Maria Ngboko and St. Thomas in Rii-Yubu.

During the occasion, eight members of the congregation who paid the courtesy call to the Curia from the two parishes included Doctor Sterina, medical personnel who is an eye specialist. Since she came to Rii-Yubu, she has managed to perform 41 successful eye operations and cared for over 152 patients in Rii-Yubu.

Speaking during the occasion, Barani Bishop Hiiboro expressed appreciation to the congregation for the diligent work they are doing at the two border Parishes and by extension the entire Diocese. Bishop Hiiboro revealed that the congregation has been instrumental in both financial, spiritual, and social support to the communities they serve. He said that the presence of the congregation in the remote parishes brings great hope and strength to the faithful of Rii-Yubu.

The Bishop assures them of continuous collaboration for the growth of the entire Catholic Church within the Diocese in spite of the challenges in the country.

Doctor Sterina who also spoke during the occasion congratulates the faithful of the two Parishes for their hard work and the zeal which they have exhibited towards God’s word. She also expressed gratitude for being in Africa especially in South Sudan, stating that though they are people from different countries, the majority of their members are Africans.

Rev. Father Fernando, the Superior General of the congregation also expressed excitement to see how Africans welcome and organized their occasions. He said that he was touched by the warm reception and that his congregation is ready to work with the African Bishops to evangelize the communities.

During the events, the choir members from St. Mary's Mother of God Catholic Parish Yambio entertained the guests with happy songs of Easter as they observed the covid-19 preventive measures.
