Red Cross distributes nonfood items to Tombura IDPS in Ezo County
The Red Cross in Western Equatoria State has reached out to the internally displaced people in Ezo by distributing non-food items to them.
Speaking to Anisa radio over the week, the emergency officer for South Sudan Red Cross, Mr. Louis Nicolas Yango said that Red Cross delivered blankets, sleeping mats, mosquito nets, soaps, buckets, and kitchen utensils to the IDPs in Ezo.
He reveals that currently, the population of IDPs has increased to forty thousand in Ezo County. Mr. Yango further expressed that the Red Cross is trying its best to support the displaced persons in the County as much as possible.
He appealed to other partners who are on the ground to reach out to the remaining IDPs who have not received any assistants.
“Most of the IDPs have been traumatized by what they have been seeing and experiencing during the ongoing conflicts in Tombura, as such many children, for instance, are malnourished because their families have no adequate ways of providing for their dietary needs. We, therefore, need more partners to come on board and support in whichever way they can,” Mr. Yango appealed.
The beneficiaries who received the support in terms of non-food items appreciated Red Cross and appealed to the government to promptly intervene to end the attacks and conflicts in Tombura.
