The Yambio Institute of Management and Polytechnic Studies (YIMAPS) has on Saturday, 25 June held first of its graduation of eighty eight students since the institute was established in 2012, a warding the students with Diplomas and certificates in the field of education, social science and business administration.

In his address, Barani Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio said that the graduates are expected to “bring peace, development and love in the community, just like the way missionary did in Africa”.

The prelate called on the communities in Western Equatoria to embrace education to transform their lives and bring in development in the region, adding that the Catholic Church is to transform the lives of the communities through the provision of education system.

“We are working hard to ensure our communities have access to education, because education is a key to success, development, peace and prosperity”, Bishop Hiiboro said.

On the other hand the South Sudan National Minister of labor and public service, Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro, has appealed to the ministry of education to based emphasis on technical schools as one way to alleviate poverty in the Country. According to Minister Bakosoro, most of the graduates in the Country studied courses that seek white color jobs instead of technical studies.

“To free our Country from poverty, the ministry of education should now focus on technical education and educate the young people on the importance of technical school” Bakosoro added.

YIMAPS apparently is in the process to get affiliated to St. John Catholic University with its affiliation to South Sudan Catholic University

The event was attended by the South Sudan national minister of labor and public service Hon. Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro, Western Equatoria State governor, the State minister of education among other invited guests.  

Among the graduate, 40 were from the school of business administration, 32 from the school of Social Science and 16 from the school of Education.
