The vicar general of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura Yambio (CDTY) on Tuesday, March 7th 2023 blessed the foundation stone and launched the construction of three classrooms at St Daniel Comboni secondary school.
Speaking at the event, Rev. Fr. Thomas Bagbiowia advises the students to embrace self-discipline while at school citing that the students must learn how to behave well to their teachers and parents/guidance.
He encouraged both teachers and students to always practice what they teach and read, “today to us all it is an invitation as we are blessing the foundation of this secondary school, that all that we read, all that we teach we must believe in and at the same time we must practice what we tech”.
Bagbiowia discouraged the students from joining peer groups adding that good character from students and obedience are strong pillars of becoming a good leader through hard work.
For her part, Sr. Margaret Wanja Wamaru the administrator of St Daniel Kindergarten, Primary, and secondary schools revealed that Covid 19 affected the function of secondary schools since its outbreak in the country.
She added, despite the challenges they face, the administration has to continue to receive and register a huge number of students who are already attending lessons.
Margret appreciated the partners (monos unidas) for their generosity toward the development of education which has improved the lives of the host community in various ways.
Mr. Ceaser Daw Daw the educational secretary of the CDTY encouraged those Students who are in senior three and those in primary eight to always concentrate on reading books “you are already candidates preparing to sit for the national examinations. So, take your books very seriously and study well and practice you will make it well”.
He, therefore, asks parents to take good care of the school citing that it is not for the Comboni sisters or for the diocese but it is ours we have to support it and we must own it because it is part of us. Let us support this school so that it becomes one of the secondary schools in South Sudan.
Bishop Eduardo Hiiboro, the Bishop of CDTY, stated, " the dream for this secondary school is to make a college and develop it to a technical college with the collerboration of Comboni.
He thanked all those who are supporting in the project and Comboni sisters for collaborating with the Diocese.
