Fauna and Flora International visited the two payams of Andari and Naandi on 12th May 12, 2023, in Ezo County and signed a memorandum of understanding with the local communities living near the Nyesi and Bangangai Game Reserve.

This comes as a result of the long-awaited discussions with the community local leaders, youths, and government officials to allow the FFI to establish a team made up of community members who would be able to monitor and patrol around the Nyesi and Naandi game reserve with the intervention of any organized force. They also formed a group called Community Conserved Area {CCA} which will be responsible for all the management and control of the two Areas of Nyesi and Bangnagi.

Br. General of wildlife conservation Area in western Equatoria State, Mr. Joseph Mathew Waure said, the community conserved area {CCA} should work hand in hand with wildlife conservation to take proper care and maintainers of the area.

For his part the acting director for Wildlife Western Equatoria state Br. General Simon Sabit Masua promised that they are going to work together with the partners to make the proper use of the area that will be beneficial to all the citizens of Naandi Payam.

During the signing of the documents, the Commissioner of Ezo County Hon. Abel Sudan stated that there is a difference between the Game Reserve and the land given to the community, the major point in signing the document is to show that land given to the community is for the benefit community and development. He added, since it is a community project, everyone in the community should be aware of all that will be happening in the project.

The minister of local government Hon. Bakoyogo James Severino said “I’m happy to see the effort done by FFI to create such an initiative that will last for future generations to come, we should take this into consideration so that it can create income to the government and the local communities of Naandi Payam. He also encouraged the youths to work hard to plant many fruits and take education as one of the keys to success and they should stop the use of harmful drugs which are not good for their health.
