Death Announcement of Rev. Fr. Charles Tombe Vigilio Modi
The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio is deeply saddened to announce the passing on of our beloved priest, Father Charles Tombe, who departed early this evening, Monday, September 23, 2024, at around 7:30 PM at St. Theresa Nzara Hospital (Western Equatoria State).
It has been just a quick illness and this morning he was rushed to St. Theresa Nzara Hospital where he passed on. The body is at St. Josephine Bakhita Catholic Parish, Yabongo.
The late Fr. Charles Tombe was born in Juba, on November 27, 1983. He was ordained a priest on 8th, October 2017, and served in various ministries in our diocese.
Fr. Charles Tombe served as:
Parish Priest of St. Charles Lwanga (2018-2020);
Priest in charge of Apostolic Groups (2020-2024);
Rector of St. John Paul II Institute of Philosophy (2021);
Parish Priest of St. Josephine Bakhita Parish in Yabongo (2021-2024);
Episcopal Vicar for Central Deanery (2021-2024)
Member of St. Gregory VII Mastermind Team (Think Tank), (2024)
Father Tombe dedicated his life to serving our community with unwavering faith, compassion, and kindness. His profound impact on our lives will always be cherished. As we mourn his loss, we are reminded of the words 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”.
Our Bishop is in Juba and feels with the entire diocese, families, and friends mourning this good priest Fr. Tombe Charles.
Farther arrangements regarding his burial will be communicated to you later by the diocese. May he rest in peace, and may we find comfort in our shared memories and faith.
