Over 200 commences formation and Academic year 2021/2022 St. Joseph’s Senior Seminary Maingbangaru

220 seminarians are among the students who have begun their new academic year 2021/2022 at St. Joseph’s Senior Seminary Maingbangaru. This was after Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala extended a welcoming hand to lay students (boys and girls) to study alongside seminarians in a bid to make secondary education accessible to the majority of South Sudanese children who currently lack educational facilities.

According to Rev. Fr. Abel Tindi the Rector of St. Joseph’s Senior Seminary, the academic year began on the second week of June and all the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure that the learning process at the institution which is located at about ten kilometers from Yambio town runs smoothly.

Fr. Itindi who is also the Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Maingbangaru Catholic Parish during his visit to the diocesan secretariat intimated that he has cultivated an eight acres land of maize and other food crops that would ensure that the seminarian who is residing at the facility are not short of food supply.

“The kindness and love of our Bishop Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala for quality education for all children of South Sudan has compelled him to make this noble provision for the enrolment of lay students comprising of boys and girls at the Senior Seminary so that they can study together. This is something that is quite commendable,” Fr. Itindi expressed adding that the Bishop did not stop at the enrolment of these lay students to the seminary but has also ordered that the students do not pay any school fee and only provide for their books and school uniforms.

Fr. Abel further said that the teaching staff at the institution is a combination of both South Sudanese and other Nationals including Catholic priests who are well qualified to teach in high schools. This is meant to ensure quality education at the institution.

Fr. Abel called on the parents or guardians to support their sons who have been called to be seminarians by providing for some of the school requirements to help them pursue their studies without problems.

St. Joseph’s Senior Seminary previously has been operating at St. Augustine Naagori Catholic Parish in Yambio suburb but after deliberations, it has been agreed and transferred out of the town to a conducive environment for studies and formation.
