In a symbolic act that intertwines faith and environmental consciousness, His Lordship Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura-Yambio (CDTY), received 12 mahogany seedlings from Mr. Anthony Zetti Martin.
The gesture was welcomed with great appreciation and joy by the bishop, who regarded the seedlings as a blessing from God and symbolic to the importance of caring for the environment.
During the handing over, Bishop Hiiboro expressed his gratitude towards Mr. Zetti for his thoughtful initiative to contribute to environmental preservation.
“These 12 mahogany seedlings will bring significant impacts to our community,” the bishop said. “Mahogany is known around the world for its contribution to building homes, furniture, and various essential items. It is our duty to protect and nurture our environment, and this gift will help us do just that.”
Highlighting the spiritual and practical significance of the gesture, Bishop Hiiboro acknowledged that environmental care is not only a responsibility but also a blessing. He further prayed for God's continued blessings upon Mr. Zetti’s work and encouraged him to keep supporting others in his efforts to protect nature.
On the other hand, Mr. Anthony Zetti Martin, who had worked in Congo for three years before starting his environmental initiative, shared his motivations behind the gift explained that he decided to present the seedlings to the bishop first to receive a blessing for his ongoing journey of promoting environmental sustainability.
"It is a great honor for me to start this journey with the bishop's blessing, and I hope this work will have a lasting impact," Mr. Zetti said.
