The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura arrived in Juba with more than 400 Pilgrims ahead of the Pope's visit to the Republic of South Sudan, despite encountering mechanical problems on the vehicles. More than 10 vehicles were set to help transport the faithful Christians from Yambio to Juba for the Papal visit.

The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tambura arrived in Juba with more than 400 Pilgrims ahead of the Pope's visit to the Republic of South Sudan, despite encountering mechanical problems on the vehicles. More than 10 vehicles were set to help transport the faithful Christians from Yambio to Juba for the Papal visit.

The delegates from CDTY left Yambio on Tuesday at 4: 31 pm to Juba capital of South Sudan, more than 4 vehicles including Bishop's car got stranded on their way to Juba but they managed to reach safely.

Pope Francis embarks on his fifth visit to Africa on Tuesday, flying to the DRC and then South Sudan to plead for peace in the two conflict-ridden nations, South Sudanese are waiting for the church leaders to land in Juba on Friday.

Barani Eduardo Hiiboro leads an Ecumenical pilgrimage from Yambio the Capital of Western Equatoria State to PRAY with Pope Francis, the six-day ecumenical visit is undertaken by the Pope, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and the Moderator of the Church of Scotland, Iain Greenshields.

He further noted that the pilgrims are in the hundreds because they lacked means of transport to come in big numbers.

In April 2019, Pope Francis, in a dramatic gesture after an unprecedented retreat at the Vatican, knelt to kiss the feet of South Sudan’s previously warring leaders as he urged them not to return to a civil war.

The visit was originally planned for July 2022 but postponed due to the 86-year-old pontiff's knee pain that has forced him in recent months to use a wheelchair.
