“Motorists in Yambio County Must Obtain Number Plates in the Next one Week”, Says Traffic Director

The Director of the South Sudan National Traffic Police Services in Western Equatoria State, Major General Hussein Girisi, has urged all motorists in Yambio County to ensure their vehicles and motorcycles have proper number plates.

The Traffic Police Service in Yambio has set a deadline of one week for all motorist owners to obtain their number plates.

Hussein clarified that after this period, a crackdown on vehicles and motorcycles without number plates will commence on October 14, 2024. Those found without proper registration will face enforcement actions by traffic police to prevent any disruptions to public safety and law enforcement.

In an exclusive interview with Anisa FM on Monday, Major General Girisi noted that many motorcycles in Yambio County currently operate without number plates, which violates traffic regulations.

He emphasized that this practice hinders the ability of the police to track vehicles involved in accidents or criminal activities, such as theft.

"The crackdown on numberless motorcycles and vehicles will be a continuous exercise," Girisi said, adding that it is vital for law enforcement to easily identify vehicles in the event of accidents or criminal incidents.

Bridger Poulino, a senior officer with the Traffic Police in Yambio, called on the public to respect the traffic laws by registering their vehicles.
