Catholic Faithful in Yambio Joins Bishop Hiiboro in Celebrating Palm Sunday

As Catholic faithful throughout the world join in the celebrations of Palm Sunday this year, parishioners of the Cathedral Church in Yambio, St. Mary Mother of God had the opportunity to join His Lordship, Barani Eduardo Hiiboro for the solemn celebrations. They came in their hundreds and in strict adherence of the Covid-19 prevention measure stipulated by the Ministry of health. These included wearing masks, washing of hands with water and soap and keeping social distance.

Bishop Hiiboro encourages the Christians to go beyond the challenges and the obstacles they would meet as people and hold on to the value of their faith like Jesus Christ who never lost focus of his vision, of his dream for his people.

Jesus had a triumphant entry into Jerusalem although he knew what was awaiting him, he was aware that his mission to save God’s children would be through pain, suffering, and death; yet this did not deter him from courageously entering into Jerusalem. Therefore all of us who are his followers ought to hold on to our faith especially when we encounter opposing voices, rejection, and betrayals in our mission to do God's work,” Bishop Hiiboro expressed in his homily.

He added that “There will always be all kinds of things that can keep us slow as well as people who may even push us away but let us hold on to Christ keeping Him at the center of our lives and activities and follow in His footsteps.”

The Bishop further said that like Jesus Christ, it didn't end up in Jerusalem but he became the savior and

the protector of life because he resurrected. After all those shameful and humiliating things done to Him, Jesus never remained defeated, rather He was victorious in the end.

“May we be encouraged in our own families, in our communities, in our places of work so that all that we do we may not be deterred by the opposing voices but rather let us hold on to the conviction voice that we are doing the right thing to build our communities, to build our families; to build our country and to build the kingdom of God on the earth. The solemn entry of Christ into Jerusalem is a brave entry, let us have that bravery in moments of challenges and the way to do so is through prayer.”
