Following the direction given by the South Sudan government concerning the 2023 academic year, St. Joseph Senior Seminary is among the institutions that have opened for the new academic year.

The occasion was officiated by Bishop Hiiboro Kussala, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Tombura – Yambio.

In a massage shared online with RURUGENE, Bishop Kussala described the Seminary in two ways; “a project of God where young men are prepared to go out and announce the existence of God in human society, he added, it is the only institution tasked with such formation and since it is a project of God, and God is the image of young people, therefore they are to put Jesus Christ as their role model”.

The prelate extended a welcoming hand to lay students who are at senior school secondary level to join St. Joseph senior Seminary and study alongside seminarians.

“The Seminary is open to admit children in the neighborhood because the Seminary is in the outskirt of Yambio and there is no secondary school in the area, so the church offers scholarships to young people of senior secondary school level to study with Seminarians”.

Bishop Kussala underscored that the Seminary is well structured with enough staff.

For now, Fr. Abel Tindi is the Rector of the Seminary, Fr. Louise Bwekama is in charge of spirituality, Fr. Peter, the Dean of Students and Mr. Amadi, the headteacher.

The bishop thanked all the staff, the benefactors and friends for the support.

“I thank all the staff, the benefactors and friends who had been able to support us in our ongoing formation”.
